Mr. Bhardwaj, Nishant - has over 5 years of experience in the field of Environment management and Energy policy research. Prior to the employment with IT power India, Nishant was working as Environmental Scientist with Development Alternatives. He has specialized on Climate change issues and worked on various issues under Kyoto mechanism like baselines and additionality, transaction costs in CDM projects, sustainable development indicators for India. He has also analyzed various baseline options for solar PV projects in India. He has experience in working in highly unorganized sector like brick sector and organized sector like hospitality industry. He has worked on EU funded policy research project Sustain Water. Besides, he specialized in environment impact assessment studies, environment management systems (EMS), water budgeting, and thermal energy efficiency improvement. He holds qualifications of Masters of Technology (M.Tech.) in Energy and Environment Management from Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T)- Delhi, India and Masters of Science in Environmental Science from University of Delhi, India. Ms. De Coninck, Heleen - works as a junior scientific researcher in the group Energy Use and Climate Change at the Unit Policy Studies of ECN. Her main focus of work is international climate policy. Heleen graduated in atmospheric chemistry in January 2001 and also obtained a master's degree in Environmental Science, specialisation climate change. Since her joining ECN in December 2001, she worked on Kyoto Protocol implementation, CDM policy studies and she also organised several courses about climate change and renewable energy for the Indian Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources. In addition, she is working on the implementation of energy-efficient greenhouses in China as a CDM project and has worked on the post-Johannesburg energy and poverty implementation. She became part of the Technical Support Unit of the IPCC Working Group III, where she is co-ordinating the Special Report on carbon dioxide capture and storage as on option for mitigation of climate change. Dr. Green, John - Manager of the Climate Change Strategy Unit at IT Power, has worked in the renewable energy field for over 12 years, having completed his PhD focusing on renewable energy in developing countries. He has managed a wide range of projects funded by UN organisations, the EC and the World Bank, and is author to several publications on renewable energy and energy policy. Over the last year he has worked on many Clean Development Mechanism projects, including designing a US$ 1.3 million CDM capacity building programme for industry in China, developing a baseline study for a 30MW windfarm in Inner Mongolia, and working on several projects investigating the opportunities for bundling small-scale projects under the CDM. Dr. Mariyappan, Jay - Energy & Kyoto Mechanisms Specialist in the Climate Change Strategy Unit at IT Power, has over 5 years experience in the energy sector carrying out research and consultancy on renewable and distributed energy projects in the UK, Europe and the USA. These include a review of the Global Environment Facility's $200m portfolio of solar thermal power projects in India, Mexico, Morocco, Egypt and Brazil, and out research in South Africa on the implementation of rural electrification projects. He is completing a PhD in decentralised energy systems in conjunction with Advantica Technologies (BG Group) and Imperial College, London, and was seconded to the UK Carbon Trust to develop their strategy for investment in low carbon technologies. In the passed year he has worked on a number of CDM related projects for a range of clients including: an assessment of the data requirements needed to identify, select, promote and implement small-scale energy projects under the CDM, with case studies in a number of Western African countries; an evaluation of bundling pico-hydro projects in Vietnam and the Philippines for CDM; and a project developing strategies to identify and develop renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, through the CDM and regional cooperation in south east Asia. Mr. Parthan, Binu is a Director and co-founder of IT Power India and has over 12 years of professional experience in sustainable energy and climate change. Prior to IT Power India Parthan was with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) as a technical co-ordination/support officer on renewable energy in the Managing Directors cell. Parthan holds masters degrees in Industrial-Mechanical engineering and Renewable Energy. At IT Power India, Parthan is responsible for Energy and Environment projects apart from management and strategic responsibilities. As a consultant and expert Parthan has contributed to assignments for international agencies such as the World Bank, EU, IEA, UNDP, UNIDO, UN-DESA, UN-ESCAP, UNEP, CDM Executive Board, WHO, DfID, KfW, PCFPlus DLR, CEDRL, DANIDA, USAID, MITI, CIDA, ICEF as well as government, institutional, private and civil society clients in sustainable energy, climate change and related financing and institutional mechanisms. His professional experience covers 12 countries including developing countries in Asia and Africa. Parthan has also authored or co-authored 4 books and 22 publications. Send E-mail
Mr. Subbarao, Srikanth - has 5 years of professional experience in the field of renewable energy especially biomass energy. He has participated in various rural development programmes through dissemination of renewable energy technologies in rural Karnataka and Kerala. Prior to the employment with IT Power India, Mr Srikanth Subbarao was working as Project Engineer for Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE) an NGO working in the field of renewables and sustainable development. He has been involved in diversified projects on fuel efficient devices, biogas plants, biomass CHP units, urban solid wastes etc. He has travelled extensively in rural areas and has obtained good rapport with rural communities. Mr. Srikanth Subbarao is an Environmental Engineer from National Institute of Engineering, Mysore. He also has a Masters in Renewable Energies from University of Oldenburg, Germany. Send E-mail
Mr. Van Der Linden, Nico - is senior energy economist of ECN Policy Studies and has broad field experience with climate change issues, integrated energy planning and renewable energy policy instruments. Mr van der Linden has led several studies commissioned by the Dutch Government which aim to assess the potential and cost of the Clean Development Mechanism options in the energy sector. These studies were used as background information for the development of policy options to achieve the Kyoto target. Furthermore he has extensive experience in teaching and setting up courses. Mr van der Linden has worked in many countries, including Poland, Czech and Slovak Republics, Indonesia, India, China, Indonesia, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Yemen and has been seconded to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy in Swaziland as an energy advisor during the period 1995 to 1997.
