IT Power is a leading international energy consultancy with over 20 years' experience in renewable energy, rural energy planning and related economic, financial, commercial and environmental matters. The company has completed over 700 projects in over 90 countries world-wide for most of the UN agencies, Directorates of the EC, and numerous government agencies and private clients. Technical expertise in IT Power encompasses small hydro, wind, solar PV, solar thermal, tidal and biomass systems.

The company's activities include CDM project development including provision of project design documents, baselines and other pre-validation services, the provision of policy analysis, technical assistance, capacity building, project identification, programme management and market research and analysis. IT Power has been involved in numerous projects concerned with the CDM including: developing a baseline and Project Design Document for a 34.5MW windfarm in China; assessing streamlined CDM baseline setting procedures for Solar Home Systems; advising UNDP on the capacity building needs relating to the CDM for Chinese institutions and developing a US$1.25 million capacity building project proposal; and determining how small-scale projects in West Africa can be cost-effectively supported under the CDM. The company had a member of staff on the Advisory Group set up by the UK Government to recommend the structure and function of the UK's Climate Change Projects Office.

The Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) is the leading centre for energy research and development in the Netherlands. ECN conducts technology and policy research to find implementable solutions to meeting social needs for energy services in a safe, efficient and clean way. ECN comprises 700 staff, structured into six business units: Solar Energy; Wind Energy; Biomass; Energy Efficiency; Clean Fossil Fuels; and Policy Studies.

The ECN Policy Studies Unit was established in 1974 and employs some 50 scientific staff of various disciplines. ECN Policy Studies has extensive experience in the research fields of energy and environmental policy design and energy systems modelling, climate change related studies, sector studies on energy efficiency in buildings, transportation and energy-intensive industry, renewables, policy instrument evaluation and the liberalisation of energy markets.
